Low carbon emission cars are over half the UK market

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) the UK motor industry body has said during 2010 in the UK that 56% of new cars sold had carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions below 140g/km.

Plug-In Car Grant powers ahead

Britain’s new Plug-In Car Grant has received a big boost, jolting the super-low carbon market for vehicles out of its slumber. A maximum of £5,000 will be awarded to the purchaser of any vehicle that is labeled low carbon. The specific requirements demand no more than 75g/m of CO2 in order to qualify.

London will have 1300 electric car charging points in 2011

London will unveil 1300 electric charging points all across the city next year.  The electric charging stations will be accessible to motorists for the minor fee of £100 for the year.

It is all part of an effort to encourage the use of electric and low emissions automobiles throughout the city being called Source London.
