Ministers are thinking about allowing councils to issue local parking tickets to violators of around £100.
The Scottish Government stated that if the fine is increased from the normal £60 cap it may reduce the amount of parking that occurs illegally in congested areas, and help to better fund the costs of parking enforcement.
